A private brunch at home in Cascais is one of the easiest ways to host: guests arrive late morning, eat slowly, and nobody has to book a table. MamaVera comes to your house, cooks what needs cooking on the spot, sets the table and serves through the morning. You sit down with your guests instead of standing at the hob.
We usually arrive around two hours before your guests to prepare and lay the table. Brunch runs as a slow sequence — pastries and fruit first, then eggs and warm plates cooked to order, then cakes and coffee — over roughly three hours. There's no rush and no fixed sitting; people join as they arrive.
Typical dishes: syrniki with sour cream and berry compote, eggs any way with smoked salmon or wild mushrooms, warm blinis, a mezze board with hummus, baba ganoush and marinated peppers, seasonal fruit, honey cake and a lemon tart. We bake bread and pastries the same morning. Vegan and gluten-free versions of the core dishes are prepared alongside, not instead.
We bring our own knives, pans and serving pieces, use your hob and oven, and wash everything before we leave. Tableware, glassware and linen can be rented through us if you're short for the guest count. What you're left with is a cleared table and a kitchen in the state you handed it over.
It works best between six and twenty-five people; above that we'd suggest a buffet layout rather than cooking to order.
Yes — Cascais, Estoril, Guincho, Birre and Quinta da Marinha, and we also reach Oeiras and Sintra for home brunches.
