Not every gathering needs a plan, a seating chart and a timetable — MamaVera caters informal buffets in Cascais for house parties, garden lunches, welcome drinks and the sort of evening that starts at six and finishes when it finishes. We set out a table people help themselves from, keep it looking good for as long as you need, and take everything away at the end. The food is homemade and Mediterranean with a Slavic streak, not standard catering trays.
For relaxed events we build around a large grazing centrepiece — cured meats, cheeses, marinated and roasted vegetables, dips, pickles, olives and warm breads — and then anchor it with one or two hot dishes so it counts as a meal. Everything is designed to be eaten standing, on a plate balanced on one hand, with no knife work required. Dessert is deliberately simple: something to pick at rather than a plated course.
You can take it as a drop-off, where we deliver ready-arranged platters and you manage the rest, or staffed, where one of our team stays to refresh the table and clear. Drop-off suits gardens and beach houses with plenty of room and a helpful host; staffed suits anything over about thirty guests. Either way we bring the serving dishes, and tableware too if you would rather not use your own.
We cater in Cascais, Estoril, Birre, Quinta da Marinha and along the coast towards Guincho, in private homes, gardens, pool terraces and rented villas. Outdoors here means planning for the Atlantic wind and the late sun, so we choose dishes that hold their shape, keep cold food properly cold and cover what needs covering. If the party moves from garden to indoors as the evening cools, we move the table with it.
Sometimes — informal menus need less lead time than full event catering, so it is worth asking even for the coming weekend, though a week ahead is safer.
Anything safe to keep is left with you, boxed and labelled; we take away the platters, equipment and waste.
